Last night was one of those nights. One of my three children was up every hour all throughout the night. I gave up around 5:30 am and decided to go ahead and get up so that I could have my quiet time before the girls woke up again.
It’s so easy to grumble and complain on days like today. Days when I’m running low on just a few hours of sleep, the two year old is throwing a fit, and the three year old is writing on the couch with a pen (yes, that happened today). I’m reminded of 1 Thessalonians 6:16-18:
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
God has given my husband and I these three precious gifts and God uses us to point our children to Him, to guide them into the right direction and train them to live a life for Christ. So when our kids are having a rough day, let’s pray with them and remind them what we should be happy about instead of focusing on what’s going wrong.
As parents, we must remember this as well. This season in my life is hard, it’s exhausting, but I will find things to be thankful for. I’ve never felt closer to God in my life because I depend on Him so much to get through each day.
I’m grateful for the joy and happiness that comes from a relationship with Christ. I pray that as my children grow up and mature that they would see this in me. Everyday we are setting an example of what a woman of God looks like.
Are you struggling today too? How does God calm your heart on those hard days?
