As a Christian woman trying to balance being a good wife, good mom, and a good homemaker, all while pursuing a life that is constantly growing in Christ, can seem exhausting. At times, I feel like I’ll never be good enough.
I will get angry and bitter toward my husband. I will speak to my kids in an unkind way, while inadvertently teaching them to treat each other that way. I will look around at my home and see the dust collecting on the bookshelf. The feeling to do it all can be overbearing in ways that lead to having negative thoughts toward our family members, friends, and even ourselves.
It’s tempting to wallow in self pity and tell ourselves that it’s just too hard. We begin to feel unworthy and lousy at these tasks that God has called us to do.
I think this is something a lot of women struggle with on a daily basis. We scroll through social media and see the pictures of happy families, siblings loving on each other, latest DIY projects, delicious recipes, perfectly organized space, the list could go on. We like to show others what’s going well in our lives. But it’s rare that we share our struggles.
So, how do we find the energy to keep pushing forward when it seems like we are failing?
